- The route can be hiked in either direction, but this description follows the Samistal direction.
- From Amlakit village center, cross the bridge and enter the forest trail about 50 m later, turning right.
- The trail steepens immediately, climbing in zigzags through the forest until emerging above the treeline.
- Following the ridge line, the path leans against the right-hand slope, gently ascending toward Samistal Plateau (3.8 km).
- Upon reaching the plateau, pass through the houses on the right, cross the main road, and climb the opposite hill.
- Near the houses, you’ll see a sign pointing left toward the Hazindak Trail.
- Continuing right instead would lead to Kavrun Plateau (described in Route Y06).
- Walk carefully through the houses, following faint trail marks until the path merges with the main track.
- Once you reach the right-hand slope, the trail begins a gentle circuit around the hill.
- Along this section, you’ll encounter ancient stone pavements — remnants of paths used for centuries.
- The trail continues parallel to the forest line, just above it.
- You’ll pass through a rock gate and cross several small stream beds.
- When Hazindak Plateau comes into view, descend steeply toward the village houses (12 km).
- Pass through the houses; at the village square, a sign points left, directing you toward Amlakit.
- Continuing right instead would connect you to the Ayder Trail and the Pokut route (Y01).
- After turning left and passing the last house, climb a small ridge and look for the path descending into the forest on your left.
- From here, the trail continues entirely through forested terrain until you reach the main Amlakit road.
- This is one of the few true forest trails in the entire Kaçkar range — enjoy the serenity and dense vegetation.
- The stone pavements are more extensive here, and you’ll cross several stream beds in parallel.
- When you reach the main road (14.7 km), turn left and climb gently to return to Amlakit Plateau.
