- The route can be walked in either direction, but this description follows the Kavrun–Lakes direction.
- Starting from Kavrun village center, cross the main bridge, then turn right onto the main road.
- Don’t miss the trailhead sign on your right.
- The path climbs steeply through village houses on the left, ascending above the rooftops toward the river gorge.
- Once you leave the houses behind, the path becomes faint and less defined.
- Cross the wide riverbed, then climb briefly and join a clear, well-marked trail.
- Continue gently uphill along the stream, keeping it to your left.
- When the trail branches left from the stream, a zigzag ascent begins (around 3 km).
- After this first climb, you’ll arrive at the Kavrun Lakes area (3.8 km).
- A sign here points left toward Çeymakçur Plateau (described in Route Y02).
- Continue right toward Öküzyatağı.
- Skirt the edge of the large lake, then climb in zigzags to reach Öküzyatağı Pass (6.2 km).
- Time to take in the spectacular views of Kaçkar’s glaciers and towering peaks.
- From the pass, descend carefully on a steep, rocky trail toward Öküzyatağı Plateau.
- Once you reach the plateau, turn right and follow the distinct footpath leading to a makeshift wooden gate (9.2 km) — built to prevent semi-wild oxen from straying up to the high pastures during summer.
- Pass through the gate and make sure to leave it as you found it.
- Continue descending via zigzag paths to the stream bed.
- From there, follow the trail with the stream on your left, eventually connecting to the main Kavrun road.
- Turn right onto the main road. If you continue left at the junction, you’ll head toward the Samistal Plateau Trail.
- After about 1 km, you’ll return to Kavrun village center.
